FAQs

I’m new to loose leaf tea, what do I need to know?

If you love a good cup of tea, then you should definitely try loose leaf tea! Here are some frequently asked questions to help you begin your loose leaf tea journey.

What equipment do I need to brew loose leaf tea?

There are many ways of brewing loose leaf teas:

  • You can use a teapot and pour the brewed tea through a strainer to catch all the leaves

  • You can buy a tea ball or infuser which acts as a reusable, metal teabag - we hope to sell some of these soon so watch this space!

  • You can buy disposable tea sacs which work exactly like a normal teabag but you fill them yourself

Easy!

Some of the teas are labelled as CTC. What does that mean?

CTC stands for “crush, tear, curl.” This is a method of processing tea in which the leaves are crushed, torn and curled with a machine turning it into small, hard pellets.

What does “tippy” mean?

Tippy tea refers to tea that includes a greater portion of tips (leaf buds). Tippy teas tend to be higher in caffeine, and have a more delicate flavor and aroma.
